I stand on the edge,
hands outstretched
over endless gulfs...

Eyes glitter
in muted light,
hard,
cold,
endless seas of pain...

My soul
shattered
on a jagged ledge,
lonely,
bitter,
weeping tears I cannot...

You were my friend
you understood,
a shoulder to cry on
when there was need.

Seeing worlds
I couldn't touch...

Gentle,
fragile,
wise for your years,
your future
sprawled
to a dozen tommorows.

Sparkling,
bright,
you threw it away
like the excitement in your eyes...

Now you are gone.
I am alone.
Standing on the edge,
of a gulf
I can't cross...

A fairly old poem, but nonetheless one of my better pieces along with Mourning for Leroy and Fears of her Past.

Thanks for commenting I'm glad you liked it, it's not what I'd call my favourite poem probably because it's one off my older ones but I have a mild fondness for it unlike Fears of her Past to which I still feel somewhat ambivalent towards.

Thanks again for commenting :)
